Evaluation of NWIP for the Adoption of ISO 27001 Standard

We hereby kindly request your attention to the following.

The Suriname Standards Bureau (SSB) has received a proposal for a New Work Item Proposal (NWIP) from Datasur N.V. concerning the proposed adoption of the ISO 27001:2022 standard, entitled:

"ISO/IEC 27001:2022 – Information security, cybersecurity and privacy protection – Information security management systems – Requirements"

This international standard specifies the requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining, and continually improving an Information Security Management System (ISMS) within organizations. The standard provides a structured and risk-based approach to managing information security risks and protecting information and information-processing systems.

As the Standards Bureau of Suriname, we would appreciate receiving your views and insights regarding the proposed adoption of this standard. We therefore provide you, as a stakeholder and/or interested organization or institution, with the opportunity to evaluate the proposal and share your findings and comments.

The objective of the proposed adoption is to establish a National Standard that provides organizations in Suriname with a consistent and internationally recognized framework for establishing, implementing, and managing their Information Security Management System. This will, among other things, contribute to strengthening information security, managing information security risks, and promoting the continuity and reliability of information and information systems within organizations.

In accordance with the standardization process, support and demonstrated need must first be established before the SSB can proceed with further coordination of the adoption process. Your evaluation is therefore of great importance, as the responses received will enable us to assess the extent to which there is a need for the adoption of ISO 27001:2022 as a National Standard.

We therefore strongly encourage you to contribute to this process by providing your evaluation. Your input will enable the SSB to identify and take into consideration the various views and needs of stakeholders in Suriname during the further consideration of the proposal.
