The National Quality Awards (NQA) is an initiative of the Suriname Standards Bureau (SSB) that promotes a culture of quality, excellence, and continuous improvement among organizations in Suriname. Through the programme, organizations are encouraged to evaluate and improve their management systems, processes, and overall performance, while being recognized for excellence in quality management, innovation, customer satisfaction, and sustainability.

The NQA serves as a platform to strengthen organizational competitiveness both nationally and internationally. Participation provides organizations with structured feedback and valuable insights to identify improvement opportunities. The programme aims to promote quality culture, encourage the implementation of quality management systems and international best practices, support especially Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), recognize excellence, and contribute to the strengthening of Suriname’s National Quality Infrastructure (NQI).

Organizations participating in the NQA benefit from an independent assessment of their practices, identification of strengths and improvement areas, enhanced performance and efficiency, increased credibility, and opportunities for benchmarking with leading organizations.

The NQA Programme is open to organizations operating in Suriname, including the production sector, service sector, small enterprises, and micro and small agro-processing businesses.

As the national standards body, the Suriname Standards Bureau plays a central role in promoting standards, quality, accreditation, and conformity assessment, and uses the NQA Programme as a key instrument to strengthen Suriname’s quality culture and support sustainable economic development.
