Public Comment on seven ‘Sustainable Tourism Management’ Regional Standards

The Suriname Standards Bureau (SSB) received a letter from the tourism sector in May 2022, concerning a proposal for adopting the following CARICOM Regional Standards:

The goals of adopting these standards are to regulate and standardize accommodations in Suriname according to the requirements for environmental management, energy management, food safety, water management, waste management, sewage management, and pest management systems. This will enhance the tourism level, improve safety, and optimize customer satisfaction.

According to the standardization process, the standards to be adopted must first be sent for public comment before the SSB can further coordinate this process.

We hereby inform you and request your cooperation in reviewing and commenting on the aforementioned standards.

In light of the above, these standards will be available for Public Comment from July 16, 2024, to September 10, 2024. You can access/review the standards by clicking on the links included in the titles of the standards listed above.

If you have any questions regarding this, please contact the Standards Development department at phone number +597 499928/499929 or via email at standards@ssb.sr
