SSB signs MOU with UL

UL and Suriname Standards Bureau sign Collaboration Agreement on Standards

 

Underwriters Laboratories (UL), a global standards developer, and the Suriname Standards Bureau  (SSB) are pleased to announce the signing of a Collaboration & License Agreement between their organizations. 

The Agreement, signed on October 20, 2020, that due to the health contingency of the COVID-19 pandemic, the signature was made virtually by both Parties. With this Agreement is intended to provide a framework to developing technical standards to improve the quality of life, well-being and public safety the rational use of resources, innovation, productivity and trade for collaboration for Suriname and its stakeholders.    

This agreement enables SSB to leverage and reference UL standards within Suriname and permits both organizations to collaborate further using best practices in standards development. 

“The signing of this MoU reinforces the mission of Underwriters Laboratories to make a safer world and aligns with the region's safety objectives” said Phil Piqueira, Vice President Global Standards, UL.

The Director of SSB, Ms. Charelle Park conveyed the following sentiments “The step that was made towards this MOU is very appreciated and we shall make good use of this opportunity to exchange experience and grow as a country through the adoption of the standards from UL”.
